If this is the first post you’re seeing of the ‘Seasons of Anime’ series, here’s a link to Spring which came before this one. ^-^
Summer
Summer! Cicadas, heat and rain! For me, one of the most beautiful seasons with so much greenery around. ^-^
(Please note: if one of your favourite summer releases is not mentioned here, take the opportunity to be creative and make an activity for it that you can enjoy! Also, I’m only focusing on the ones that aired during this season to make it easier to pick which series to include in each post. Any story can have seasonal activities themed according to them; again, this is your opportunity to come up with those activities for you to enjoy. ^-^)
Touken Ranbu Katsugeki – Given that our favourite sword warriors are fairly traditional, how about a
traditional Japanese activity? One of the many traditional Japanese summer activities is listening to or
viewing insects. You can choose your own types of insects to listen to or view depending on where you are.
Two that are particularly popular in Japan are crickets (suzumushi) and fireflies (hotaru).
Free – Beat the heat with a refreshing swim.
Akagami no Shirayukihime – Plant a pot of (medicinal) herbs and/flowers.
Cells at Work – Keep hydrated! Also, enjoy the smorgasbord of delicious summer fruits!
Try Knights – For the non-rugby-player ~ brush up on your rugby knowledge. (You could make this into a sort of ‘training camp’ for yourself, if you’d like ~ themed according to Try Knights and/or your other favourite rugby anime.)
- For the rugby player ~ If you haven’t already, come up with a training program for yourself; maybe theming some of the exercises or drills you do to the characters from Try Knights and/or any of your other favourite rugby anime.
Helios Rising Heroes – Have a one day ‘event’ ~ To make it seasonal, consider theming it according to a Helios event that occurred in summer. (For Japan’s summer ~ June-August ~ options could include: Water Front City Guide, Cyber Animal Panic and The Night Pool Party.)
Well… that’s it for my favourites that debuted during summer. What about you? Have any of these inspired you to do anything seasonal ~ with a season released anime or any of your favourite stories? If you do decide to do something seasonal that is related to one of your favourite stories, let me know! I’d love to hear what you did. ^-^
Naturally, these activity suggestions are not limited just to summer, but, if you want, can be included in the other seasons too. You may just need to tweak one or two to fit the alternative season you wish to do it in.
Come back next week for the Autumn instalment of this series.
Until then, keep enjoying your fan side of life!
