I find it kind of interesting that anime is aired according to the seasons ~ as in: Spring, Summer,
Autumn/Fall and Winter. (I’m uncertain if this is a system used elsewhere in the broadcasting world.)
In regards to how Japan seems to be a country of seasonality (they really pay attention to their seasons and you can see the changes just about everywhere), it kind of makes sense that they’d split their anime broadcasts accordingly.
With each season comes new opportunities for activities that weren’t necessarily available to the season before. In this short little ‘series’, I hope we can explore each season through our fan side of life lens and maybe find new ways to enjoy each season.
Spring
Spring always seems to be the starting point for the seasons. The frigidness of winter is leaving and the heat of summer is just around the corner. Let’s make the most of this in-between season with the aid of some of our favourite series.
(Please note: if one of your favourite spring releases is not mentioned here, take the opportunity to be creative and make an activity for it that you can enjoy! Also, I’m only focusing on the ones that aired during this season to make it easier to pick which series to include in each post. Any story can have seasonal activities themed according to them; again, this is your opportunity to come up with those activities for you to enjoy. ^-^)
Shakunetsu Kabaddi – Let’s take a leaf from Yoigoshi’s book and try a new sport this season. (Hopefully, we’ll try it without being begrudging about it though…)
The Royal Tutor – Inspired by S01E03’s scene where Heine and Leonhard are ‘stranded’ in the forest, how about having a spring camp-out (or in; I’m a fair advocate for a camp-in).
Ame-Iro Cocoa – Perfect for those days with spring showers ~ enjoy a cup of hot cocoa (or another hot beverage of your preference).
Haikyuu – Follow Hinata’s lead and go for a run! (This will probably be best on those days that still feel a little wintery as you’ll be able to get warm by running.)
Kuroko no Basuke – Get in a little basketball practice ~ shoot some hoops. (You can always set up a
container and try to land balls of paper or other small soft objects in it as a substitute for an actual ball and hoop if you do not have access to one.)
Well… that’s it for my favourites that debuted during spring. What about you? Have any of these inspired you to do anything seasonal ~ with a season released anime or any of your favourite stories? If you do decide to do something seasonal that is related to one of your favourite stories, let me know! I’d love to hear what you did. ^-^
Naturally, these activity suggestions are not limited just to spring, but, if you want, can be included in the other seasons too. (Though, I’m not sure how many cold days there are in summer so… the hot cocoa option may have to wait until Autumn or Winter to come around again. ^-^)
Come back on Thursday for the Summer instalment of this series.
Until then, keep enjoying your fan side of life!
