Starmyu Hanami Picnic

It’s spring! (In the northern hemisphere anyway…) If you live where there are cherry trees, chances are the blossoms will be coming out or have already started to bloom! Though, whether you have cherry blossoms to view or not, how about celebrating the season of spring with a little themed picnic? ^-^

This spread was inspired by the different teams we’ve seen in the Starmyu series. (You can find recipes for some of the items seen here in the recipe booklet.) Working our way from left to right:

• Strawberry and cream crepes – Representing Team Hiragi. (I’d seen some members of Team Hiragi

eating these in the end credits for the first two OVAs. I chose to use strawberries as they’re a classic fruit for crepes.)

• Sweet Onigiri – Representing Team Otori. (A very different take on traditional onigiri and with a pink hanami twist. ^-^)

• Cherry Fizz Pops (a lollipop with a fizzy sherbet centre) – Representing the New Kao Kai. (Again,

trying to make a twist on a ‘traditional’ take. The flavour is ‘traditional’, being cherry, but the form may not be as traditional.)

• Cherry Mochi – Representing the Original Kao Kai. (A traditional Japanese sweet stuffed with glace

cherries. My recipe may not be authentic, but it looks right. Yes? ^-^)

• Fizzy apple juice – Representing the Ancients. (Mixing apple juice and fizzy/carbonated water to make a drink that looks similar to beer.)

• Honey Drizzled Cupcakes – Representing Team Yuzuriha. (Mostly inspired by Hachiya – seeing as

Ageha was the inspiration for the last cupcake I made for Starmyu.)

• Tuna Sandwiches – Representing Team Sazanami. (Inspired by Kitahara’s liking for a particular type of fish cake – according to his wikia bio and I felt we needed a savoury item. ^-^)

Well, that’s it from me for now. I hope that you’ll enjoy creating your own hanami picnic ~ Starmyu themed or not. ^-^ You can find the recipe booklet here. If you do create your own hanami picnic, let me know about it. You can also use #fansideoflife on Twitter and Instagram to help me and fellow fans find your themed hanami picnic posts. ^-^

Until next time, keep enjoying your fan side of life!
