Fan Side of Life New Year’s Prep

2022 is just around the corner now! I don’t know what next year will bring, but I’m hoping for many

improvements in my own life. In order to make things happen, I know I’ll need to be organized and be ready to work hard. Ergo, a little pre-planning and organization will (hopefully) help me achieve those

improvements/goals. Speaking of such, a little organization for our fan side of life will also help us not to miss out on things related to our favourite stories. Below you’ll find some ideas of what to do to prepare for the new year, as well as some ideas of things to do in 2022. ^-^

First, let’s start by cleaning our rooms for a fresh new start to the year! If you’d like, take this opportunity to rearrange your room too.

Next, setting goals for the year to come will help us have focus. Besides the ‘regular life’ goals (which may include – career, finance, personal growth, health, fun and relationships as examples), do you have any fan side of life goals? Write them down along with your ‘regular life’ goals. ^-^

In regards to setting goals, remember to not over-do it. Don’t set yourself so many goals at the start of the year that it becomes overwhelming. Be realistic, but also be sure to push yourself a little. A goal isn’t worth going for if it’s too easy, right?

Now, seeing as you’ve set your goals, it’s time to prep your planner and any other tracking systems you have or would like to have for next year.

Don’t forget to note down reminders for any new series/movies, books/manga or events you’re looking forward to in the year ahead (I doubt you would forget to do this, but this is just a friendly reminder; just in case ^-^). Another set of notes not to forget are your favourite characters’ birthdays and any anniversaries related to your favourite stories (that is, if you want to celebrate those).

One last thing, in case you’re short of ideas of what to do come next year, here’s a little list of things you could do. (Note: There’s no pressure to accomplish all or any of the ideas mentioned on this list; I just wanted to give you something to inspire you to live your fan side of life that little bit more.)

22 Fan Activities for 2022

1. Learn a new skill.

This could be anything from drawing to writing to learning a new language or even sewing! Besides these, are there any skills you’ve seen in your favourite stories that you’d like to learn?

2. Cook.

Try cooking a dish from a story or make one that is inspired by something in your favourite story.

3. Try a new sport.

If you don’t already do the sport in your favourite sports story, consider taking that up.

4. Redecorate your room.

You could do this every couple of months – keep things fresh and up to date with your latest favourite story.

5. Read (22) manga/books.

They can be old or new.

6. Watch (22) series/movies.

They can be old or new.

7. Celebrate, at least one of, your favourite story’s anniversaries.

8. Celebrate your favourite character’s birthday.

9. Create an inspired outfit.

Of course, make as many as you like, but if your wardrobe is limited, one may be all you can do right now. However, this could be a good opportunity to revaluate your wardrobe and write a list of what is needed for your future purchases or sewing projects (in general and/or for inspired outfits).

10. Get crafty!

Do some crafts.

11. Try something new.

12. Do something seasonal.

Hanami picnic anyone?

13. Make an anime journal.

14. Treat yourself to a themed café/spa at home.

15. Have a themed read-a-thon.

Pick your favourite book/manga or a new collection you’re starting, theme some snacks/meals and drinks to it, set your time frame and go for it!

16. Grow a themed garden patch/pot.

This could be flowers or vegetables depending on what you’re doing.

17. Enjoy a themed staycation.

Make your room/home into your own private themed hotel. You may not have hotel staff waiting on you, but is that so bad? Change up your décor a little to feel more like a hotel and plan some meal options to make during your staycation. Then relax and enjoy a couple of days off from everyday life with your favourite story. (Maybe that next long weekend could work. ^-^)

18. Organize your own personal training camp.

Is there any skill(s) you really want to improve on? Set up your own personal training camp where you focus on that skill for as many days as you can spare. If that skill has a link to one of your favourite stories, then theme your training camp to that story.

19. Themed dinner party.

20. Have a movie night.

Just remember, your movie ‘night’ doesn’t have to be at night. Have it during the day or afternoon even. Whatever time suits you is the best time.

21. Go on a themed outing.

If you can’t go out, be creative and bring the outing ‘to’ you.

22. Have a series marathon.

Don’t forget the snacks!

Well, that’s it from me for today. I hope you found something in this post helpful, interesting or inspiring.

Please be sure to check out the Downloads page, I’ve created a printables pack which includes some sheets of quote cards from a couple of series I like as well as a checklist for the 22 Fan Activities mentioned above; if you’d like to try to accomplish some of them this coming year. There are also a couple of other pages related to the Fan Activities included in the pack.

If you are planning on doing any of the 22 Fan Activities, let me know by Contacting me. I’d love to hear what you plan to do and/or hear of the finished project(s). Whatever you feel more comfortable with. ^-^ If you share your fan activities or projects online, particularly on Twitter, please use #fansideoflife so that I and other fans can see your post(s). ^-^

Until next time, keep enjoying your fan side of life!
